GoGuardian Parent App

To have your email registered with the GoGuardian Parent app:
  • your email must be in our PowerSchool system, and;
  • you must be a guardian
To see if your email is already in our system, you can log into PowerSchool, click Forms in the left menu (if you are on mobile, you may have to tap the tiny white arrow up toward the top left to expand the menu), and look at form "B - Student Contacts."
If your correct email is in PowerSchool, and GoGuardian Parent is not recognizing it, please contact your school so we can correct the issue.
The Guardian Parent app allows parents to monitor the activity of their student's school Google account. It also allows parents to manage online activity -- blocking/filtering websites, pausing Internet access, setting offline hours -- during "at home" hours. School hours are 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, and at home hours are any other time outside of school hours. To download the app, follow the instructions linked in the "Getting Started with GoGuardian Parent" button above.
NOTE: GoGuardian Parent is currently compatible with iOS versions equal to or newer than iOS 8 and Android version equal to or newer than Android Jelly Bean, v16, 4.1.x.
"At school" hours are from 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. "At home" hours are any other time. Here are some other important distinctions and notes about each time frame.
At Home Hours
During at home hours, parents may apply their own filtering rules. For example, parents can block websites that may be needed during at school hours, like Youtube, during at home hours. Parents can be more restrictive than the policies set by Pleasant Ridge School District (PRSD), but not less restrictive. (i.e. parents cannot allow sites that are already blocked by PRSD.) If parents do not apply any additional filters, PRSD filters will still be in place. Students are always filtered and monitored when using PRSD Chromebooks. This cannot be disabled.
Parents can also set time limits, or pause Internet access, during at home hours. More information on that can be found in the "Setting up an offline schedule..." and "Pausing Internet Access..." sections below.
At School Hours
During at school hours, only PRSD's filtering policies will be applied. Parents cannot set time limits, block websites, or disable/pause Internet access during these hours. Parents can still monitor student activity and see accurate summaries on the GoGuardian Parent app.
Using the GoGuardian Parent app, parents can schedule when they want their student to no longer have Internet access ("offline hours"). This feature is only available during at home hours; meaning, parents cannot inadvertently pause their student's Internet access during school hours.
Here are the steps to create an offline schedule:
  1. Open the GoGuardian Parent app
  2. Tap "Time Limits" in the menu at the bottom of the screen
  3. Tap the blue create button
  4. Choose a start time for when you want your student to longer have Internet access
  5. Choose an end time for when you want the offline hours to end
  6. Choose the days of the week that you want these times to be applied to by checking the appropriate boxes
  7. When done, tap the blue Create button to finish
Here is an example of an offline schedule that is 7:00pm to midnight, seven days a week. Basically, all access will be disabled every night, starting at 7:00pm.

A few more example schedules are outlined below.
To pause the Internet for all at home hours (i.e. no Internet access outside of school hours)
  • Start Time 12:00am
  • End Time 12:00am (or 11:55pm if needed)
  • Check all of the boxes for every day of the week
  • Tap the blue Create button
To pause the Internet during weekends.
  • Start Time: 12:00am
  • End Time: 12:00am
  • Check the boxes for Saturday and Sunday
To pause the Internet from 8:00pm until 6:55am the next day. This requires two schedules: one for the morning hours and one for the night hours.
Morning schedule:
  • Start time: 12:00am
  • End Time: 6:55am
  • Check all of the boxes for every day of the week
  • Tap the blue Create button
Night schedule:
  • Start Time: 8:00pm
  • End Time: 12:00am
  • Check all of the boxes for every day of the week
  • Tap the blue create button

Tip: To delete a schedule, you can swipe a specific time range to the left. It is similar to deleting a blocked site, as noted below in the "Filtering (blocking) a website..." section.
In the GoGuardian Parent app, tap the Time Limits icon in the lower menu. Then tap the black "pause" button up top. From there, you can choose a time frame for the length of the pause.

You can also re-enable Internet access (unpause offline time) by tapping the black "Resume Internet" button.
Note: Internet access cannot be paused by GoGuardian Parent during school hours.
During at home hours, you can block a website that would otherwise be accessible to your student during school hours. A perfect example of this would be Youtube. Some teachers use Youtube for educational videos; however, there is non-educational content that can also be available. (Note: explicit content, gaming content, violent content, etc. should be blocked by PRSD filtering policy. This includes filtering during at home hours.)
To block a website (we are using Youtube in our example), follow these steps.
  1. Tap Filters in the menu at the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap the blue Add Website button
  3. Enter a valid web address (for Youtube, it must have ".com" at the end, not just "youtube"). See our Youtube example below
  4. Tap the blue Create button

You may add as many websites as you wish by following the above process.
If you want to remove a website that you blocked during at home hours, follow these steps.
  1. Tap Filters in the menu at the bottom of the screen
  2. Press and hold the right side of the website you want to block, then swipe it to the left. Here is a screenshot that explains it more clearly.
