School Lunch Program Information
Established June 1, 2022, the Nevada County School Food Services JPA, Community Roots, was created to form a TK-12th Grade meal program that could provide students with daily access to fresh, healthy food. This collaborative meal program could serve 10,000 students during and after school as well as summer meal needs.

Meals are free for all students for the 2025-2026 school year. However, your children may qualify for additional services, supports, and discounts if they qualify for the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P), formerly known as After School Rec. Students who are notified that they are directly certified through SNAP, TANF, Medicare, and other sources automatically qualify for free ELO-P services. Direct Certified eligibility letters will go out over Summer Break each year.
- Qualified students will be eligible for ELO-P, as well as various field trips on weekends and during school breaks, at NO COST.
- Please submit a Household Income Data Collection form if your household income is within the Eligibility Guidelines outlined on the form.
- Free ELO-P does not apply to Arete Charter Academy students, but additional benefits and supports may be available to those who qualify
Additionally, MealTime Online offers a convenient way for you to manage your student's ELO-P and 6th grade Science Camp payments. To set up an account, or to fill out an online application, click here.
